Simple lifestyle changes that can help prevent stretch marks

Getting stretch marks after pregnancy is common among women, but most aren’t aware that they can be prevented if you take some measure. Making little lifestyle changes can prevent you from getting marks on the skin after child birth. Stretch marks prevention would not be much helpful in case you are genetically programmed to get the marks, but it still doesn’t hurt using the tips as with them you can lighten the appearance of the marks. Here are some lifestyle changes that can help you:

  • Increase your water intake: Drink around 8 to 10 glasses of water or more to keep your body hydrated and plump. Hydration prevents skin from cracking and developing marks. If you can’t force yourself to drink more water, sip green tea, it is more beneficial. Eating water-rich fruits and vegetables can also compensate for the water requirement.
  • Exercise to control weight gain: As you already know that sudden stretching of skin causes marks, it makes sense that controlling weight gain can help prevent marks. If you are pregnant, you can’t avoid weight gain, but making sure that you gain pounds gradually can be helpful. Including a moderate exercise regime in your routine is more beneficial than you think. Don’t overexert yourself, simple routines for toning is all you need to do.
  • Make massage a part of your skincare routine: Include massage in your night skincare regime to improve blood circulation in the areas prone to marks. Pick an anti-stretch mark cream like Murad Body Firming Cream and massage your tummy, hips and thighs with it daily. Avoid over-the-counter chemical based creams as they can cause side-effect and allergies. Consider natural creams as they are safe for your skin as well as health. Massaging twice a day is really beneficial, but if you don’t have time, make sure you do it at least once.
